If you are my age you cannot see the head-on view of this car without hearing Johnny Todd played on penny whistles and see the faces of Fancy Smith & Jock Weir peering through a rain spattered windscreen on a wet night in Newtown - Z Cars I'm talking about. The Police series set in a version of Kirkby just outside Liverpool in the early Sixties and the cars they drove were Ford Zephyrs. Not estates though and to me that mattered, they were not real Z cars as a result.
Ford never actually made an estate version of this Zephyr - the model is of a Farnham conversion - nice though. Mine is good and un-messed with, quite an early release. Perhaps a little more paint loss than I'd like but presentable non the less. Chris Davidson's model on the right gives you a view of the mint model and the box.
I've also tried to do some close-ups of the interior detail. As far as I can see there are a couple of spades, a pickaxe, a rope, a box and some other items I cannot identify. Things a motorway Policeman could not do without. Its also worth looking at the beacons on my model and on Chris'. Mine is missing a clear plastic cover which is also visible on the photo in the Great Book of Corgi.
The one on the right is a little - 'play-worn' - one could say, completely wrecked, one could also say. This one came in a mixed lot which I bought for another model and cost me about 20p, I have plans for it however. It will be reborn as a 'code 3' one of these days.
