The Hillman Husky was part of the first Corgi range
in 1956. Slightly larger scale than the rest of the original release range and a
good model of the short wheelbase estate version of the Minx. It was originally
dark blue or tan in colour or a greyish light brown, the latter two probably
being the same colour originally as some sources only quote 'dark fawn. The
original launch cars stuck closely to the colours of the real cars they were
modelled on, which made them rather dull.
In 1959 the Hillman was part of the re-release of
some of the launch models in new two-tone colour schemes, being seen as a bit
jollier than the fawns and greens of the originals. The new colour scheme was
metallic silver and metallic blue and it stayed in the range in these colours up
to 1961. Of the colour options the
two-tone is the better priced item |
