The first ever Corgi Bedford CA Van, re-photographed in my new mini studio.. This one has the friction motor. the freewheeling version released at the same time was the Daily Express version. If you look at the back of this van you'll see a step moulded in to the casting under the right rear door. I've seen a few of these on Corgi CAs. I must find out what it means when some have them and some do not. Looking through my other CAs the only other rear step I can find is on the other side. I guess what is going on is that there are a number of casting dies on the production line and as each one is partly hand made there are bound to be differences,

There were 13 versions of the Bedford CA from 1956 through to 1961, more if you count the AA van which was in both castings under the same number. It remained in production until 1963 and must have been the most prolific of the tin-bottoms. A Corgi icon. The last of all was the Military Utilicon Ambulance released in 1961.

The KLG Plugs van was released in 1956 and remained in the range until 1960. It is always red, always has the mechanical flywheel friction motor and is always on the first version of the CA casting with the split windscreen. Sales were not huge so prices now will always be good.
