HILLMAN HUSKY

I really struggled to find a non-mechanical Hillman Husky. This remained a gap in my collection for years until I visited my friend Kees in Holland and he presented me with this one, thank you Keesie. It could benefit from restoration, but I plan to leave it just as it is.

The Hillman Husky was part of the first Corgi range in 1956. Slightly larger scale than the rest of the original release range and a good model of the short wheelbase estate version of the Minx. It was originally tan in colour or a greyish light brown, probably the same colour originally as the sources only quote 'dark fawn. The original launch cars stuck closely to the colours of the real cars they were modelled on, which made them rather dull.

In 1959 it was part of the re-release of some of the launch models in to new two-tone colour schemes being seen as a bit jollier than the fawns and greens of the originals. The new colour scheme was metallic silver and metallic blue and it stayed in the range in these colours up to 1961.

Repainted green from the original dark fawn
